Move Over Hannah, There's A New Montana In Town

At just 16 years old, Stormy Montana (yes that is her real name) has proven to have one of the largest and most dedicated fan bases in all of country music. She doesn’t attribute this simply to her age, but to the music itself, which is grounded in the best traditions of country music, with an eye towards the more accessible pop country of today’s generation. Stormy began singing live in bars and honky-tonks at 9 years old and hasn’t stopped since. Her love of music and performing is evident by the fact her mother never had to push her to sing and perform, it’s simply what she wanted to do. Teaming with renound vocal coach Teresa Smith, and surrounding herself with a great team of Nashville insiders and music professionals, Stormy set sail on her life’s calling. The culmination of these early years of hard work can be heard on her new C.D. “Someone Like Me” which has already sold nearly 7,000 physical copies without the benefit of radio play, video channel support, or a 'Big Machine' behind her.

When Stormy released her debut record "Someone Like Me" late last year, she sold nearly 2,000 copies on the first night, making her one of only a handful of artist in the country to outsell some of the biggest names in the music industry. In fact, "Someone Like Me" sold more in one night than many 'top-tier' artist sold that entire week. As Chet Flippo wrote in Nashville Skyline, "Below Simpson’s 65K number, only four other country CDs sold as many as 10,000 copies. Only another 15 sold as many as 5,000. And, sadly, the bottom 16 sold less than 1,000 copies each.”

With the rise of online piracy, shrinking shelf space in stores, and the state of the economy, it seems unlikely that an independent country artist could sell thousands of c.d.'s on her own; without the benefit of radio play, video channel support, or a large team of music insiders behind her - but that's exactly what Stormy Montana has done.

Even more impressive, "Someone Like Me" has continued to sell well throughout the year. Nearly 7,000 physical copies have already been sold since release (not even Taylor Swift can say that at this age!). And "Someone Like Me" has never been sold online. Until now.

On November 15, 2009 Stormy Montana will release "Someone Like Me" worldwide through i-Tunes, Amazon, LaLa, Rhapsody, Napster, and other online vendors.

Stormy says, “At first we wanted to keep the C.D. offline completely, believing that the best way to sell "Someone Like Me" was for me to play shows, shake hands, and meet as many people as possible. As time moved on we found that the demand for "Someone Like Me" at the shows was overwhelming, leading us to sell out very quickly. At the same time, everyday we were getting request for the C.D. from places as far away as Japan and Germany. We concluded we needed to have "Someone Like Me" in all the online stores so that the fans who weren’t able to purchase the C.D. at the shows, and those around the world, could.”

Fan Review: Phil Vassar in Charlotte, NC

Our friend James attending his first Phil Vassar concert on Thur and passed along some really great pictures from the show.

I attended my first Phil Vassar show at Whisky River in Charlotte NC on Thursday October 29 and was blown away. Anyone that listens to Phil's music and never sees him live is missing out. You can not understand how energetic and talented this man is. He puts on an amazing show. Starting out with Thats When I Love You, Im Alright, Love Is A Beautiful Thing all the way to Little Red Rodeo, Take That As A Yes, and Workin For A Livin as a finale. Vassar had the crowd jumping and even amused himself with the Halloween ghosts hanging from above during his time atop his piano. The show was a blast and if you get a chance to see him DO IT!

Thanks James for sending us the pictures, and write up. Sounds like it was a good show. We agree with you Phil does put on a great performance.

No Shoes Radio Now On iTunes

Kenny Chesney's radio station No Shoes Radio, founded on the tracks on Kenny's own iPod, is now available via iTunes.

"When the people at iTunes told us they were into what we're doing," said Chesney, "I was pretty blown away - because in a lot of ways, this station is all about the way my iPod rolls around from reggae to rock and roll, old George Jones and some obscure Jackson Browne track. If there's one thing about the music you hear backstage at our shows... it's all over the place, and you can't find that anywhere anymore, that diversity."

You can find the station under the reggae/island section on iTunes Radio.

"I think most of the people coming out to our shows probably own albums by Dave Matthews and Willie Nelson, Bruce Springsteen and AC/DC, not to mention Bob Marley," Chesney said. "I'm always trying to bring my fans further and further into the experience of where and how this music comes alive, so not only were we able to spend the summer broadcasting live from our tailgate parties at the stadium shows... but trying to take them into the Vibe Room, into production, anywhere people were helping bring the music to life - and when we realized going straight through the internet gave us the most freedom, we were sold. No rules radio is almost more like it..."

We here at Got Country? love us some No Shoes Radio if you haven't already listened to the station, you have to check them out. Make sure to follow them on Twitter also.

Jimmy Wayne's Most Beautiful Backfire

Earlier this year, Jimmy Wayne was named one of Nashville Lifestyles magazine's 25 Most Beautiful People of 2009. But the singer is quick to point out that it didn't bring him much luck with the ladies.

"All that stuff does to you is push girls away," Jimmy tells The Boot. "I think there's a reverse effect to that whole thing, because girls look at you [and say] 'Oh, you think just because you're in the magazine that you can just have anybody ... Well you're not having me!' This whole thing has an effect on your personal life. Periodically, you do run across one or two of them, and I've heard that [line] many times: 'Don't think just because you're in the magazine that you can have me.' How do you respond to something [like that]? I didn't think that to begin with, so whatever. When they find out you're in a magazine then they get tough."

Jimmy points out that he's not letting that kind of thing bother him too much. "I don't care," he says with a shrug of his shoulders. "I'm pretty content. I'm just focused on my music and being a good boy!"

Jimmy's latest single, 'Sara Smile,' has just been released to radio. The album of the same name hits stores Nov. 23. In a recent tweet, Brad Paisley, who took Jimmy out on tour with him this year, praised the song, saying that he had just witnessed Jimmy performing it with John Oates of Hall & Oates, who had originally recorded the tune.

"Fantastic," Brad tweeted. "Wayne and Oates. Wonderful new duo. Wonderful new cereal as well."

Special Jake Owen Fan Gets a Faraway Call From Her Idol

This just goes to show how wonderful Jake Owen is, and that fan club members are actually not just friends, but extended family. Australian Jake Owen fan Shelly was expecting a “concert call” from fan club members attending Jake’s show in Akron, Ohio, Tuesday night but got more than she was even hoping for when her friends put the singer on the phone to chat.

The friends have been rallying around their Down Under sister Shelly since she told fan club members that she’s battling breast cancer. The fans have donated to an Australian Breast Cancer charity, chat with her online and on the phone, and of course send her well wishes and prayers.

Fan club member Tiffany wanted to give help her Aussie sister experience a Jake Owen concert live, so she worked with Shelly’s local friends to coordinate a concert call, which came at 7 a.m. local time in Australia. (A “concert call” is when friends call each other from live shows to share the music with those who can’t attend.)

But Tiffany was hoping for more when she drove the 5½ hours from her home in Kentucky to the show at Tangiers in Akron, Ohio, a benefit for the local Muffins for Mammograms charity. She handed over her cell phone and its international calling card to fan club member Linda, who had a meet and greet pass for the show, and asked Linda to put Jake on the phone to Shelly.

Thankfully, Tiffany was quickly called backstage to participate in the call. She was the only one who knew what to do when the call was dropped! She says Jake couldn’t have been more enthusiastic or gracious about reaching out to his special fan. “Jake was so excited. When we asked him he said yes, I want to talk to her,” Tiffany reports.

Shelly apparently didn’t believe she was actually talking to Jake and quizzed him before accepting that it was really him. The fans gathered backstage during the call gave Jake some privacy to chat, but report that Shelly has Jake rolling with laughter, just as they expected she would.

Shelly’s friend Amber posted a thank you to Tiffany on Shelly’s Twitter account.

“AMBER here, just spoke to Shell & she just wanted to thank u all for her chance to have a long chat with jake, she is still gobsmacked.”

Tiffany doesn’t want to take any credit for Shelly’s surprise.
“Everybody at the concert made it a very special call—the staff at the venue, Jake’s manager, the fans. It wasn’t interrupted, it wasn’t rushed, everyone there made it possible,” she says. “I’m still amazed. I can’t believe we pulled it off.”

Tiffany spoke with Jake after the concert to thank him, and instead, she says, he thanked her for coordinating the call. “It blessed my heart to talk to her,” Tiffany reports Jake told her.

“Jake is just such a special person,” Tiffany adds.

Oh, and Shelly also got her concert call. Tiffany kept her on the phone for the entire show.

Eric Durrance Gets Married!!!!!!

Singer/songwriter Eric Durrance, who's country hits include "Turn It Off" and "Angels Fly Away," wed fiance Jennifer Weeks, a fellow Floridian, in a private ceremony at sunset Saturday, Oct. 24, on the artist's farm near Tallahassee.

Currently writing and recording for his next CD release, Durrance said time off the road afforded him time to take the plunge with Jennifer, a paralegal, and he couldn't be happier. This time last year, Durrance was on tour with Jason Aldean and Lady Antebellum, and marriage wasn't on the radar, but my what a difference a year makes, the singer says.

Although the couple didn't announce their planned nuptials in advance, fans might have had an inkling that Durrance had met someone special after he uploaded a new song, "Once In A Lifetime" (Jennifer's Song)," to his MySpace recently. Said tune is the same song that Eric sang to Jennifer during their Saturday nuptials, which were performed by the Dove-nominated artist's stepfather.

"All in all, it was a perfect day," Durrance says of Oct. 24, 2009. "I can't wait to see what songs I write now. I've never felt so complete!"

This is the first wedding for both, Eric and the new Mrs. Durrance will spend their honeymoon in Mexico. Congratulations to the both of them, Got Country? wishes them many happy and healthy years together.

The Man Involved In Dierks' Madison Square Garden Bromance Speaks Out

Last week I posted a story about how Dierks Bentley had a bromance with a member of the audience during his Madison Square Garden performance on the American Saturday Night tour. You can read the full article here.

Well tonight much to my surprise I get a comment to that story. No it wasn't Dierks again, but this time it was the other man involved in this bromance.

I'm the bromance guy from MSG show. The whole thing started out when Dierks brought me back a beer after I had given him mine earlier in the show. He said he usually does this part of the show with a girl - but two guys could have a little bromance, watch a movie and have a couple beers. Then Dierks started naming some movies. I was a little slow to catch on and I had never seen "I Love You Man" It didn't click in my head that that was a movie title. So I said, I love you too, man". But the bromance didn't end there. We watched the opening scene of "What Was I Thinkin?" At that point Dierks gave me back the mic so I said, about the girl in the video, "Man that chick is hot". I felt like I had to say something manly, like when John Candy and Steve Martin woke up in bed together in "Planes, Trains and Automobiles" and said "How bout them Bears?" All in all a great show and a hilarious experience.

Dan was kind enough to send along a couple pictures his wife, yes wife (bromance was short lived) took with her Blackberry. Not only did you get a concert you, your wife, and Dierks will never forget, but seems like a couple thousand others wont forget it either. Thanks for sharing Dan we really appreciate it.

Trailer Choir In Their Own Words

Even if they never sang a note, Trailer Choir would turn heads just by walking out onstage. There’s Butter, the front man with the smooth delivery and sharp comic timing; Crystal, whose smile and soulful singing can light up any venue; and Big Vinny, whose determination to entertain would win over any crowd even if he didn’t happen to be a 400-pounder with a killer pop-worm dance move.

Not surprisingly, Trailer Choir broke in as a party act at clubs and frat houses throughout the Southeast. Gradually, they began road-testing originals between the hits they covered. By the time they’d landed their first gig in Nashville, they decided to present only their own material, just to see what happened.

What happened was an invitation from Toby Keith to showcase and sign with his record label, Show Dog Nashville, and then to join his “Big Dog Daddy Tour.” He even added their song “Off the Hillbilly Hook” to the soundtrack for his film “Beer for My Horses.”

Several producers are involved in the group's debut album, Off the Hillbilly Hook, with Keith at the console on some tracks, Butter and Mills Logan on others. But whether rollicking through “Rockin’ the Beer Gut,” lazing through a summer idyll on “Rollin’ Through the Sunshine” or riding the catchy chorus on the title cut, their sound is already as unique as their look.

Mark Wills Wants You To Find Your Inner "Crazy White Boy"

With more than six top ten and three number one songs on the country charts, including the smashes, "19 Somethin'," "I Do, Cherish You," and "Don't Laugh At Me," Mark Wills has the option of selecting country's best video directors to develop and produce his music videos. For his next single, "Crazy White Boy," Mark is asking his fans not only to give their input, but to put themselves both behind and in front of the camera.

"'Crazy White Boy' is my theme song and is a favorite of our fans every time we play a concert," Mark explains. "Often, after shows, fans will come up to me not only telling us how much they love the song but how the song is also their personal theme song. They then proceed to tell us these funny and unbelievable stories of the crazy things they and their friends do while listening to our music." It was during one of these meetings that the idea of having a fan make his video came about. "I thought that these stories portrayed the fun and true spirit of the song more than anything we could imagine. So, why not give our fans a chance to show us just how crazy they are? And then give the fans a chance to vote on their favorite video submissions."

To ensure that he reaches the most fans and to encourage ideas from everyone, Mark is taking his contest to the Internet through his official website and social networks like Facebook, MySpace, Twitter and of course, YouTube.
"These are the perfect channels for reaching the most fans and for getting the best ideas, especially YouTube. I often watch YouTube and believe that I am looking at the video directors of tomorrow. The ideas are so fresh and impact is immediate. What better place to reach the best creative minds of today and tomorrow than YouTube and the social networking sites?" explained Mark.

And the results are sure to be immediate. Mark has created a special web page where fans can not only submit and view the video entries, but also cast their vote on which videos should be the winners. Mark is also excited about the voting process. "Voting is immediate and in real-time. Fans can see which video is in the lead at any time. It's easy for everyone to get their families and friends involved in the voting and picking the winners selected to be included my next video." These winning clips will be included along with footage shot with Mark and Chris Brackett, star of Sportsman Channel's top rated show, "Arrow Affliction."

Fans and future music video makers can visit www.markwills.com for more details, contest rules and a link to the online submission form. Winners will have their video played on Mark's websites and will receive a special Mark Wills prize package and a congratulatory call from Mark.

Jake Owen Doesn't Mind Being A Sex Symbol

Jake Owen has discovered he’s become a magnet for female fans, and he doesn’t mind it one bit, though his parents have mixed reactions about the frenzy their son has stirred.

“We were out in Portland at this place called Duke’s [Country] Bar & Grill,” Jake notes, “and there’s a photo of me on stage playin’, and there’s literally like 40 bras on my microphone stand — 40 of ‘em!”

His mother was a bit put off when she saw the photo.
“She just shook her head,” Jake says, “like, ‘You’ve got to be kidding me. I can’t believe my son…I raised my son to do — he’s out there doin’ this!?’ I said, ‘Mom, look, I must be doin’ somethin’ right.’”

And his father?
“Dad’s high-fivin’ me!” Jake says. “You know, he’s just like, ‘Let me ride around. Let me hang out with you.’”
For his part, Jake invites the ladies’ response. His current single, “Eight Second Ride,” is loaded with suggestive innuendo. And on Friday, as rain pelted the top of his bus before a show in New Jersey, he tweeted, “Let’s get naked.” Not surprisingly, he got deluged with comments.

“Never had so many responses in my life,” he tweeted again less than an hour later. “People like gettin’ naked. Especially in the rain.” Hey Jake we were still waiting for our Twit Pic from that night

Cole Swindell Is MORE Than A Merch Man

If any of you are a die hard Luke Bryan fan, than you know that you don't just love Luke, but you love the whole band. That includes his Merch Man Cole Swindell. Seems that Cole has been spending as much time behind a microphone as he has the merchandise table. Recently Cole, Matt Moore, and Michael Carter (Luke Bryan's guitarist) all played at the Peachtree Tavern in Atlanta, GA. The night was a huge success, as it every time they play there. And it seems that lately around the Atlanta area you turn on the radio and you hear Cole singing more and more.

Today when I opened up my email my LB buddy and fellow "Nut House" member Angie shared the wealth and got her hands on some of Cole's music. I have not been able to stop playing them. Take a listen to Cole Swindell's "Country Man Can"

Leave us a comment we would love to hear what you think of Cole's singing and if you think he has what it take? I know we do!!!

Holy Cow Batman...It's Jason Michael Carroll

If the whole Batman family knocks on your door Halloween night, then pay close attention. The trick-or-treaters might be Jason Michael Carroll, his wife Wendy and his four children.

Every year the Jason Michael Carroll and his family goes all out on Halloween. That includes everything from the family dressing in theme (this year they're superheroes and characters from Batman) to over-the-top yard decorations, and kid-friendly spooky movie marathons.

“We have a set list of movies that we play throughout the season,” Carroll says. “It’s just something to get them excited. We do the same thing at Christmas.”

Decorating the yard puts everyone’s imaginations to work. Carroll says this year the family is trying to make it even scarier because the kids are getting older. Right now they have chains draped over the stoop, a frightening-looking life-sized doll by the front door and more outdoor lights than you can count.

“Our yard is now lit up at night,” Carroll says. “It looks like Christmas but orange and black. It’s funny, we’ll go somewhere with the kids and we’ll come back and they’ll be like, ‘Yep, we have the scariest house on the block.’”

When Halloween night rolls around the family watches Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” video while putting on costumes.

Craig Morgan and Chris Young Join Stars and Stripes Tour

Craig Morgan and Chris Young left Sunday for a Stars for Stripes tour to entertain American forces in the Middle East and Europe. Great American Country (GAC)television's Nan Kelley is along for the trip, which will be recorded for a special to air in December.

"It's an acoustic deal," Morgan says. "It's not a big huge production. We'll do more than an hour in the round where we talk about songs. It's a lot of fun ... and people get to get involved."

The singers will visit military bases and hospitals, and Morgan says that in his experience even the troops who don't like country music will be happy to see them.

"They are so excited," he says. "When we're done the guys will come and say, 'I don't listen to country, I've never really listened to country, but I love that "Almost Home" song.' It's very rewarding. They are just so appreciative, and I think it is because it is something from home. Hopefully it lifts their spirits enough to keep them attentive and on edge so they can come home."

The two are set to perform live outside the Sommet Center, and said performance is open to the public, and free. According to folks at the CMA, the live performance is expected to kick off between 7:30 and 8 a.m. (that'll air between 8:30and 9 a.m., as GMA tape delays for each time zone) — it'd be a good call to head down nice and early, though, as live-show schedules are always subject to change.

Brad Paisley's Last Show Until January

Brad Paisley closed up shop last night for the last time on the American Saturday Night tour in Uncasville, CT. No worries though he will back at it again when the second leg of the tour starts in January. Dierks Bentley and Jimmy Wayne will not be joining Brad on that leg of the tour though, instead the crowd will be rocked by Miranda Lambert and Justin Moore.

Little pranks here and there were done of coarse. Jeremy got silly stringed by the Paisley/Dierks crew, Dierks and Brad hung a condom on Jimmy's mic stand during "Sara Smile", and the Paisley trucks also got silly stringed. But the highlight of the tour coming to close this first leg would have to be the dance number I woke up to this morning from Brad and his crew.

A farewell gift from Brad to all of you. We'll see you in January!

We can't wait for the show to roll into Charleston, SC in March. We will be the first in line to grab our tickets...(still wishing though Dierks and Jimmy would have been with you)

First 20 Garth Shows SOLD OUT!

As expected, demand for Garth Brooks tickets at the Wynn was unprecedented. More than 40,000 frantic ticket buyers were online at any one time this morning.

Starting at 7 a.m., there were more than 2 million page views to the Garth Brooks ticket area on the Wynn Web site. I was told that traffic simply swamped operators. “Overwhelmed” was the description from Wynn. Capacity and transaction processing had been increased, and it still wasn’t enough to meet the demand.

It took less than five hours to sell out the first 20 Garth Brooks concerts. The lines by phone, online and in person began at 8 a.m., and by 1 p.m., it was a full sellout.

The Wynn has already declared an all-out legal war against ticket brokers who say they have tickets. This is a developing story as the Wynn said it’s legal counsel is communicating with suspected and known scalpers and private, unauthorized sellers, stating that there are no licensed, authorized ticket brokers for the engagement. Furthermore, they warn that anybody paying more than the $143 face price on a ticket to a reseller does so knowing that the ticket will be canceled.

This first series of sold-out concerts is Dec. 11-13, Jan. 1-3, Jan. 22-24, Feb. 12-14 and Feb 26-28. Future concert dates will be announced soon. The Wynn’s Web site had 5.4 million hits about tickets, and resort phone lines reached maximum capacity with 141,934 calls before going to a busy signal!

Thanks to Nashville Gab for the heads up on this story!

Trent Tomlinson Has A Lot To Be Excited About

Even Trent Tomlinson is excited about the Garth Brooks announcement last week that he's coming out of retirement for a 15-week string of shows in Las Vegas, has fans excited.

"I think it's great. I love Garth's show," Trent tells The Boot. "I'm probably going to fly to Vegas and go see it. I think it's great for country music and great for him to do that. It's great for people to go see his show, especially for the younger generation who weren't around when Garth was really hot and doing his thing. They'll get a chance to go see it. So that's exciting."

Trent's also excited about his latest single, 'Angels Like Her' from his forthcoming album, 'A Guy Like Me.' An acoustic video of the track is due to hit CMT and GAC in the coming weeks, while a "full blown video" is due in early 2010. Trent's label, Lyric Street, will be releasing an EP on Nov. 24
We are very anxious for new music from Trent, can't wait to see what he has in store for us.

Dierks Bentley Has A Bromance While At Madison Square Garden

Dierks Bentley definitely bonded with the audience at his Madison Square Garden gig this week -- maybe a little too well with one member of the audience, in fact! The Boot ran a great account of the night.

Opening for Brad Paisley on his American Saturday Night tour, Dierks bantered back and forth with the crowd. According to the Village Voice, Dierks called out a random concertgoer from the stage and struck up a conversation with him. Sticking his microphone in the man's face, Dierks suggested they go see a movie together. "Two dudes can hang out," Dierks professed to the crowd -- as he began to name a few of his favorite "guy" flicks.

"You ever see 'Old School," 'Anchorman,' 'The Hangover' ... 'I Love You Man?'" Dierks asked the now fully engaged fan, to which the guy quickly answered back, 'I love you, too!" The dry-witted Dierks deadpanned., "I was talking about the movie,"

After that little comment, the budding bromance came to an abrupt end.

It's great when Dierks Bentley comments about this post:

DierksBentley: @GotCountry that was hilarious...couldn't have planned that any better if I'd tried.

Danielle Peck Gets Her Very Own Day

Danielle Peck can add yet another prestigious accolade to her growing resume... she now has her very own 'Day.' Last Saturday night, prior her show in Zanesville, Ohio, Peck, a native of nearby Coshocton, was surprised by mayors of both towns with a new proclamation. October 17 is now officially recognized as "Danielle Peck Day" by the town of Zanesville and its citizens.

"I was so shocked and frazzled by the news that I actually forgot the words to one of my songs once we began the show!" says Peck. "What an incredible honor!"

Peck then took the stage at the Seacrest Auditorium in recognition of Zanesville's Public Safety Awareness Day. The Zanesville performance marks the first time Peck has performed in the area since her teenage years.

"I've seen so many wonderful faces that I haven't seen in years... spending time at home always makes me appreciate my upbringing" said Peck. "Everything was wonderful... I love home!"

Congratulations Danielle!

Pre Order Jimmy Wayne's "Sara Smile"

Jimmy Wayne is back with his new album, SARA SMILE, which lands on stores shelves just in time for the Thanksgiving holiday on Monday, November 23rd.

Jimmy’s remake of the Hall & Oates pop classic is the centerpiece of an album that showcases his depth and range as a vocalist as well as a songwriter. The single, which rose to #35 on the country charts this week is the highest chart debut of Jimmy’s career - fitting for the song which Jimmy has described as his “sword and shield” throughout his career.

“ ‘Sara Smile’ is a song I’ve been singing for 13 years,” says Jimmy. “I sang it on the prison yard when I worked at the prison. Even though I didn’t write it, I sang it at writers’ nights in Nashville. It is the song that taught me how to play the guitar. In 2002, I sang ‘Sara Smile’ for Scott Borchetta, and he gave me a record deal. This song has had a major impact on my life.”

“I’m so happy I’ve finally had the opportunity to record it in a way that does the song proud,” he continues. “Dann Huff was able to capture the feel of the live show and having Daryl Hall and John Oates come into the studio to sing background vocals on the new track was icing on the cake.”

Jimmy, whom Billboard recently lauded as “easily the most soulful of today's young country crooners,” worked with three of the most sought-after producers in Nashville to craft his new album: Dann Huff (Keith Urban, Faith Hill) Mark Bright (Rascal Flatts, Reba McEntire) and Nathan Chapman (Taylor Swift).

“I’m very grateful to have had the chance to work with three of the most talented producers in the business on this new record,” says Jimmy. “Each day in the studio was a unique and awesome experience. I’m so lucky to be able to do what I love for a living. I don’t take any day for granted.”

SARA SMILE travels full circle exploring 360 degrees of Jimmy’s artistry, talent and personality. His soulful singing permeates every note of such soaring, romantic ballads as “All the Time in the World,” “Belongs to You” and “Counting the Days” while up-tempo rockers “There’s a Memory” and “Things I Believe” showcase the raw energy experienced at the country star’s dynamic live shows.

“One of the songs on the new album is a fast-paced, feel-good song called ‘Things I Believe’ that was written by John Shanks and Keith Urban,” comments Jimmy. “It’s such an amazing song. I don’t know why Keith didn’t keep it for himself -- but I’m sure glad he didn’t!”

Having written 4 of the new songs on SARA SMILE, Jimmy’s words are gut wrenching yet uplifting on “Just Knowing You Love Me.” He is soft, romantic and dreamy in “Just Look at You.” “Elephant Ears,” a deeply personal story about a foster child afraid to say “I love you,” is touching and tender. In “I’ll Never Leave You,” which he wrote alone, he finds a new way to explore a loving relationship.

The release of SARA SMILE tops off what has been an extraordinary year for Jimmy Wayne. “Do You Believe Me Now” soared to the top of the country charts, landing at #1 for three weeks and becoming one of the biggest hits of 2008-2009. In June he joined the American Saturday Night Tour alongside Brad Paisley and Dierks Bentley, which included a stop at Madison Square Garden this past Wednesday.

Jimmy’s musical track record boasts a string of hits, including “Stay Gone” (#3); “I Love You This Much” (#6); and the Top 20 hits “Paper Angels,” “I Will,” and “You Are,” all co-written by the star. Jimmy’s recent accolades include People Country's “Hot Guy of the Month,” TV Guide’s “Sexy Country Stars of 2008,” the 2008 Charlotte Music Awards“Country Artist of the Year” and one of Country Weekly’s “10 Hottest Bachelors of 2009." He is currently profiled as one of Nashville Lifestyles“25 Most Beautiful People of 2009.” Wayne was also deemed one of music’s “Next Big Things” by USA Today, and one of People magazine’s “Sexiest Singers” in 2003. Phew that is alot of hottness right there, but then again we already knew that.

It sure achieved its intended goal. The event raised upwards of $500,000 for the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, reps from the Hall shared.

That'll grow too, as funds from corporate donations are tallied and the spoils come in from a to-come Taylor Swift guitar auction.

Fans Go Crazy For Joe Don

And why wouldn't they? Joe Don Rooney of Rascal Flatts, found out firsthand just how risky performing live to screaming can be, on Sunday night when he was pulled off stage by an overeager fan!

While performing at the historic Konocti Harbor Resort and Spa in northern California, Joe Don was high-fiving fans from the stage when a female admirer pulled him right into the audience. Another concertgoer was quoted as saying, "He suddenly just disappeared!"

Luckily for Joe Don and the audience, he reappeared -- uninjured -- and was helped back on stage by security. The group went on with the show, and many joked that Joe Don had managed to stay in the "safe zone" while still giving fans the crowd interaction they came to see.

Rascal Flatts are currently finishing up the first leg of their American Living Unstoppable Tour. They're headed to Canada this week, lets hope Joe Don remains unharmed this week.

Taylor Swift Releases Baby Taylor

Taylor Swift is unleashing her own signature model guitar, made by, non-other than, Taylor guitars. The name similarity aside, Swift — who just last night was named the Nashville Songwriters Association International’s songwriter/artist of the year — is a longtime Taylor player, with a small guitar shop's worth of the company's instruments to prove it.

Her signature Taylor is a version of the company's three-quarter size Baby Taylor, with a screen-printed design of vines and script-y proclamations of "Love" wrapping around the sound hole, along with prints of Swift's signature and the name of her massively successful Fearless album above the bridge.

Swift says the smaller guitar harks back to her early days — which, to be fair, weren't all that long ago — working up songs on the road before she had buses to sprawl out in.

“I used to sit in the back seat of the rental car while I was on my radio tour at 16, writing songs on my Baby Taylor guitar,” Swift said in a statement. “I love the sound, and I love those memories.”

The Taylor Swift Baby Taylor has a suggested retail of $398 and comes with a gig bag. Should you want to get the holiday shopping started for the budding guitarist/Swift fan in your life: It's available for pre-order (at $299) via Amazon.com, in advance of a November 5 release.

Dave Matthews Makes CMA Awards Debut with Kenny Chesney

The star-packed lineup for "The 43rd Annual CMA Awards" grows even stronger with the announcement today that Dave Matthews will join previously announced performer Kenny Chesney. Chesney and Matthews will perform "I'm Alive," which they recorded together for Chesney's Lucky Old Sun album. The song was originally recorded by Willie Nelson. The Matthews/Chesney duet is the current single from Chesney's Greatest Hits, Vol. 2.

Other performers already announced include Jason Aldean, Brooks & Dunn, Billy Currington, Vince Gill and Daughtry, Lady Antebellum, Miranda Lambert, Reba McEntire, Tim McGraw, Brad Paisley, Darius Rucker, George Strait, Sugarland, Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood, and Zac Brown Band. "The 43rd Annual CMA Awards," hosted by Paisley and Underwood, airs live from the Sommet Center in Nashville, Wednesday, Nov. 11 (8:00-11:00 PM/ET) on the ABC Television Network.

Chesney, the four-time and reigning CMA Entertainer of the Year (2004, 2006-2008), is tied with Garth Brooks as the top winner in this category. He has received seven CMA Awards, including Album of the Year in 2004 for When the Sun Goes Down, which he co-produced with Buddy Cannon. This year, he has three nominations: Entertainer, Male Vocalist, and Musical Event with Mac McAnally for "Down the Road." Chesney has sold more than 25 million albums, achieved 19 No. 1 hits, debuted five albums at No. 1 on the all genre Billboard Top 200 Albums chart, and for the last eight years has sold more than one million concert tickets annually, making him the biggest ticket seller in any genre in this century.

Matthews will be making his debut appearance on the CMA Awards. The singer/songwriter/actor has sold more than 32 million albums as leader of the acclaimed Dave Matthews Band and won three Grammy Awards. Dave Matthews Band's current album is the Platinum-certified Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart in June. This accomplishment ties them with Metallica as the only bands in chart history to debut five consecutive studio albums at No.1. With over 16 million tickets sold, Dave Matthews Band was named the top-drawing American band in the world by Billboard.

Tickets for the 2009 CMA Awards can be purchased by logging on to www.ticketmaster.com; calling (800) 745-3000; or in person at the Sommet Center box office, 501 Broadway (corner of Fifth Avenue and Broadway, in Nashville). Trace Adkins To Help With Makeover

Dont forget tonight you can catch Trace Adkins help rebuild the home of a wounded police officer on Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. Trace traveled to Lancaster, TX, to meet officer Carlton Marshall, who lost most of his mobility and all of his hearing after being shot while leading a Dallas Police Department SWAT team. Marshall has regained some mobility through rehabilitation but is still primarily confined to a wheelchair.

The makeover will provide Marshall and his wife a solution to structural and accessibility issues, and enable the couple to continue their long-time volunteer work with horseback-riding therapy for children and adults with mental and physical challenges.

The Marshall home was infested with snakes in the walls, attic, wiring and plumbing. The foundation of the house was sinking and the septic system backed up on the lawn.

Adkins, who has worked with "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" three times, said in a statement that he is always happy to work with the television show which he believes is doing "God's work."

"It's such a noble thing that those folks do and anytime I get a chance to be a part of it and help out in some way, I'm always eager to do it. This experience was very emotional because all of his fellow police officers were there and the emotion on those tough guys' faces--it was heavy."

Austin City Limits Presents: Kenny Chesney TONIGHT

If you’ve been missing your Kenny fix for the past few weeks since the tour ended, tonight you are in for a special treat as Kenny Chesney will appear on Austin City Limits.

“I don’t really remember the first time I saw Willie Nelson, he always just was,” said Chesney, “but there’s a part of me that’s pretty certain it was on ‘Austin City Limits,’ because I saw an awful lot of my heroes on that show. You look around – and you realize everyone, from Jerry Lee Lewis to George Jones to Ray Charles right up to now has played here, and you really want to be part of that history.”

Commenting on the set list, Kenny says:
“those aren’t songs I normally get to do. I like to keep the energy level pretty high, but they’re very much a part of who I am… and it’s funny. ‘Somewhere In The Sun’ is one of only two songs I’ve ever written on the road, and I wrote it not a mile from where we were taping. So in a way, we closed the circle singing it here… because it all started when we were snowed out of our show down here on year.”

Austin City Limits airs on PBS. Be sure to check your local listings for time and channel.

Brad's 2004 debut album Patient Man reached the top 5 of the Billboard Country chart with the hit singles “I Meant To,” “Can Tell Me Nothin',” and “I Miss Me.” After spending nearly two years on a promising new project which was sadly scrapped due to creative differences, Brad worked with one of the writer/producers of Patient Man for his new album called Right On Time, which was released in June under the newly formed One Music Group.

Brad will also be releasing a new book titled “Nashville Scarred” in 2010. This highly anticipated autobiography chronicles Brad's story from his beginnings to his success on the TV show Nashville Star and how he's had to deal with it since.

Eric Church Reinjures His Foot

Eric Church has postponed his Myrtle Beach set for Friday, Oct. 16, after reinjuring his foot Wednesday during a show in Charlotte. Eric did play his Thursday night in Richmond, performing from a chair.

He apologized to fans at the Richmond show for sitting during the performance, and joked that the injury was Jack Daniels-related. He did a full set, hopping on one foot occasionally, and even changed the lyrics in his song “These Boots” to reflect the current injury.

The crowd was appreciative of his efforts and agreed that even from a chair, Eric rocked the house and put on a great performance.

Eric initially injured his foot in August. Click here more information. You can also click here to see pictures from the Richmond show.

Brad Paisley Is Coming To Your Living Room

Brad Paisley announced Thursday that he will have a hand in creating and co-producing a show, tentatively titled “Nashville,”. The show will revolve around an aspiring young female singer destined for stardom and a male songwriter whose career isn’t as certain. Paisley will be very involved in the show by including some of his hit songs as well as songs from other artists, and also appearing in the show as himself from time to time. The show is scheduled to begin airing next season on the CW network.

“I’m very excited to portray the country music world of my favorite town, Nashville, by showing the exciting life of musicians, songwriters and performers – all very talented people.” says Paisley. “Look for some of your favorite country music stars to make their acting debuts on the show – either by playing themselves or as a character in the script. Country songs are like great scripts already and it’s going to be fun to see how some unfold on the show.”

So will you be turning in to watch?

New Music From Jo Dee Messina is Coming

Jo Dee Messina says that a new album has been recorded, and should be released sometime in early 2010. It’s still unclear what the first single will be, but it should be out soon!

Jo Dee is about to head out on the second leg of her “Music Room Series” tour. It’s a more intimate setting. The stage is set up like the living room in her house, complete with windows that her husband built! On this tour, fans have the chance to ask Jo Dee questions, and as for the music- she only takes requests!

She explained to News 2: “It’s like a conversation with me and the audience, but it lasts for a couple hours, the backdrop is the music, and every night is different.”

Having a request-only concert does have its funny moments though, “I should just learn ‘This One’s for the Girls’ just to spoof the crowd, cause that’s the most requested song that I don’t sing!”

ZBB Line-Up Keeps Growing For Benefit Show

Zac Brown Band keeps adding to the line-up for its Georgia Theatre benefit show at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta. The Oct. 30 date will include Little Big Town, Joey + Rory, Shawn Mullins, Aslyn and Oliver Wood. Proceeds from the show will go to rebuild the beloved and recently decommissioned Georgia Theatre in Athens. Prior to a devastating fire earlier this year, the establishment hosted performances by local legends including R.E.M., B-52s, Drive-By Truckers and Widespread Panic, as well as rising stars like ZBB.

“The Zac Brown Band are showing their incredible generosity and their love for the Athens music scene by hosting this benefit,” says Wilmot Greene, Georgia Theatre owner. “The presence of the Theatre in Athens has allowed bands to find an important early audience that helps to bring bigger success later. That’s a big part of the tradition of the Theatre and is an important aspect of why it needs to be rebuilt. This concert will be a huge help.”

Presented by Outback Concerts, tickets will cost $100 and are available via Ticketmaster.

It Was All For The Hall

Headliner Keith Urban paused between songs and surveyed the audience that had packed a sold-out Sommet Center for the “We’re All For The Hall” concert.

“I think this is officially one of the greatest open-mike nights we’ve ever seen in Nashville,” Urban said. “We’re playing for the Hall tonight. We’re the opening band for the real attractions.”

In many ways, it was an unprecedented evening. Nine country stars took the big stage, with the show’s second half evolving into a jam session in which Urban and Country Music Hall of Fame board president Vince Gill volleyed guitar riffs back and forth in service to songs from Taylor Swift, Faith Hill, Dierks Bentley, Jason Aldean, Lady Antebellum and Little Big Town. Proceeds from the event went to the Country Music Hall of Fame, and Museum Director Kyle Young said the night was “ a landmark” and “easily the biggest fundraising event in the Hall’s history.”

And indeed, late in the evening Urban announced they're already planning to do it again next year. He said they had been inundated with requests from artists hoping to participate. "We easily could have filled two nights. October 5 next year, we're going to do it all again."

As for just how big it was, the numbers have yet to settle. Figure roughly 14,000 people paid a $25 ticket charge, and that’s $350,000. The Hall also offered “premium packages” that netted an additional $130,000. Seventy-six sponsors, including Verizon and Ford, offered services at no charge or made a donation to the museum. Caterers, car service providers, merchandisers, sound and light personnel and others contributed.

On Tuesday afternoon, the exposure alone brought twice as many tourists into the Hall of Fame than is usual on an October Tuesday. A thousand people paid the $20 admission charge, and many of them bought food and souvenirs.

“This was my hope,” said Vince Gill, who conceived the “All For The Hall” campaign several years ago and who asked musicians at all levels — stadium-fillers and honky-tonk scufflers alike — to donate one night’s pay to the Hall of Fame.
“It was my hope, but I can’t really believe it’s happening. This is a big, big payday, and times are tough. But really, it makes so much sense to me to help out the place that documents all of this music that has happened and that happens now.”

The show itself began with Urban and his band playing an hourlong set that featured hits including “Days Go By,” “Who Wouldn’t Wanna Be Me” and “Better Life.” Urban also brought Brad Paisley on stage for a duet on “Start A Band” and played a plaintive version of Dolly Parton’s “Coat Of Many Colors,” in what the Australian-reared singer-songwriter called “an example of the music that influenced me to go to this country.”

After a break, Gill emerged wearing a Nashville Predators jersey, flanked by a “house band” filled with A-list players including keyboardist John Hobbs, steel guitarist Paul Franklin and bass man Michael Rhodes. Gill, the band and Urban wound up accompanying six successive acts on two-song sets, climaxing with shrieks and lightbulb flashes for Taylor Swift’s “Fifteen” and “Love Story.”

Many of the acts that played in the show's second half had opened for Urban on his 2009 Escape Together world tour. The exception was Faith Hill, who has long been a friend of Urban's and who sang "Let Me Let Go" and "Piece Of My Heart" with accompaniment from Urban, Gill and the band.

Urban introduced Gill at the beginning of the second set, and then Gill and band did the rollicking "Liza Jane" and plaintive ballad "Whenever You Come Around." Then it was on to Little Big Town for "Fine Line" and "Boondocks."

Lady Antebellum performed "I Run To You" and "Need You Now," while Jason Aldean offered "Big Green Tractor" and "She's Country."

"It's really fun to do this," Gill said backstage, near a pile of musical charts he'd been studying to prep for the show. "I may never have a chance to play 'Big Green Tractor' again, but this is a blast."

The night's "surprise" guest wasn't such a surprise after he tweeted from the Sommet Center, but those outside the Twitter world were perhaps taken aback when Dierks Bentley hit the stage and offered up "Sideways" and "Free and Easy (Down the Road I Go)."

After Swift's shriek-inducing two-song set, Urban and Gill closed the night with a version of Eric Clapton's "Lay Down Sally."

Aldean, who earlier in the day received his first American Music Awards nomination (for favorite male country artist, alongside Urban and Darius Rucker), was pleased to have Urban and Gill as his sidemen for the evening.

“I’ve been a fan of Vince’s forever, so this is incredible,” Aldean said. “This is a little like having a jam band, like you did back in the bars. It’s loose, people make mistakes, but nobody cares about the mistakes.”

Any mistakes made seemed less than significant in an evening that was a summit for contemporary country’s biggest stars, in celebration of one of Nashville’s signature institutions.

LeAnn Rimes Sings About Her Heartbreak and Love

LeAnn Rimes may not be ready to speak publicly about her love life –but singing about it is another story. After splitting earlier this year split with husband Dean Sheremet and began dating Eddie Cibrian, says her personal life inspired songs on her next album, which should be out in the spring.

"Most of the stuff I've written [myself], so it's definitely my life," she told PEOPLE at the Yahoo! Yodel Studio in New York City's Times Square on Tuesday. She added that the subjects of the tunes are split "down the middle between heartbreak and love."

Working on music, helps her work through issues in her life, she says. "Part of my therapy is to write," she says. "I write with a lot of my best friends, so most of [our meetings] are therapy sessions that turn into songs."

Though it's been a rough year, Rimes, who is wrapping up her tour and plans to return to the studio next month to finish recording, says, "I'm great. I'm really happy and I am enjoying being back between L.A. and Nashville. With work and my personal life, everything's good. It really is."

Let Us Introduce You To Roy Jay

There's a line on "Mungo Jerry" from Roy Jay's new album, Lucky Guy that sums up the life and music of this successful entrepreneur turned musician: "I'm living the life that I wanted to live/When I needed a hand, folks are happy to give". Indeed, Roy Jay is now living the life he's anted to live, making the music he wants to make, and sharing it with the world. Lucky Guy is the album Roy Jay waited 20 years to make, and it is his artistic vision, fully formed-heartfelt, incisive and soulful.

Jay's music is an amalgam of his influences; a touch of Dylan, a dash of Paul Simmon with a heaping of Jimmy Buffet and infused with the wide-open, American spirit of the Grateful Dead. And it is the reflection of a man who has journeyed to be where he wanted to be all along.

Growing up, Jay was a music fanatic. "I started off with Jim Croce and the Beatles 'Bad, Bad Leroy Brown' was the first single I ever bought," he recollects with a smile. Jay played in several bands while in college ("I was pretty good," he says.), influenced by the seminal hard rock of bands like Lynyrd Skynyrd and Led Zeppelin.

But the demands of real life intruded, and for 20 years, Roy Jay put his guitar down to become a successful entrepreneur. "For 10 years," he said "all I did was work" he continues, "I never stopped loving music, and even though I was focused on work, music was always in my heart."

Finally, Jay had enough. As he recounts, "I always saw a lot of live music. One night last year, I came home from a show and I just ordered a guitar. The desire to participate in music became overwhelming. I enrolled in the Berkeley College of Music's online program and started playing 6 days a week, which I continue to do."

Jay soon began writing feverishly, and he was enthused enough with the results to begin to seriously consider recording. Lyricists Marsha Garcia and Jeff Zampino provided Jay with words which are striking for their sophistication, emotional power and depth.

The project really took off when Jay encountered producer Chris Seefried, a music veteran who has worked with artists as varied as Quincy Jones and Roseanne Cash.
"When I first met Chris," Jay says "I just wanted to record something so I could get gigs. I had no idea I was going to make what turned out to be when I sat down with him"

At first, Jay leaned on Chris heavily. "The first five songs we recorded, Chris wrote most of the music for. But we took a break, and then we wrote a bunch of new music together like "California Grey" When we recorded those, I knew something was going on. We began using different rhythmic motifs- and at that point it became uniquely me, and stayed that way for the rest of the recording."

Roy Jay's music is made for a simple reason - the love of creating it. It has been a long road to get here, but he is now firmly on it, and walking easy. "I don't do it for the money," he says simply. "It's just about making as much good music as possible continually learning and growing as a musician, and following this path, wherever it leads." On Lucky Guy, Jay takes the listener inside of the creative mind of a musician who is now on a journey that expresses the most authentic elements of his being.

Oprah Winfrey did a surprise gonzo show taping Monday right in the middle of the State Fair of Texas. Oprah, a Nashville native, wore cowboy boots adn a hat she bought at the fair the day before. She also brought along Martina McBride, according to ABC.

Apparently, it was quite a scene — folks came by with products they invented that they wanted Oprah to endorse, and lots of people were overcome by heat waiting for the “surprise” taping to start.

The show will air next week.

Blake Shelton Is A Tease

Blake Shelton has been teasing his fans for a while saying he was collaborating with a big name. Now we know he wasn't kidding! Blake joined forces with Trace Adkins for new single 'Hillbilly Bone', lead-off single of the forthcoming CD.

Fanclub members have been given first dips and were the only ones who could listen to the song via the fanclub pages. The song will be streamed via Blakes website.

From the press release:

“When I first heard ‘Hillbilly Bone,’ I knew it was one of those songs that would kick the door down, and who better to kick the door down with me than my buddy Trace,” says Shelton. “It’s one of those songs you can’t get out of your head, and for Trace and I both, it was one of those songs that made sense since we are pretty much both ‘Hillbilly’ to the core.”

The single, written by Luke Laird and Craig Wiseman, is a comedic, up-tempo, catchy, sing-along song about being so different, but yet really the same. “Hillbilly Bone” is the first single from Shelton’s forthcoming CD release. The release will be the follow up to Shelton’s album, Startin’ Fires, which was released in November of 2008.
